How it's calculated
°F = °C × 9/5 + 32 · °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9 · K = °C + 273.15Kelvin starts at absolute zero (−273.15 °C), so it has no negative values.
Worked example
25 °C × 9/5 + 32 = 77 °F. Body temperature of 98.6 °F is (98.6 − 32) × 5/9 = 37 °C. And −40 is the one temperature that's the same in both: −40 °C = −40 °F.
Is there a quick mental shortcut?
Double the Celsius and add 30 for a rough Fahrenheit (25 °C ≈ 80 °F). It's close for everyday weather, less so at extremes.
